Mera Peak at 6,461m/ 21,193ft is the highest Trekking Peak in Nepal though it is not technically demanding, making it a suitable challenge for a first time climb in the Himalaya. It is suitable for any one with above average fitness wishing to fulfill the dream of a high Himalayan summit or those with a yearning for high adventure. The reward is the awesome view of four of the five highest mountains on Earth!!
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Kathmandu (1,330m)
Day 2 In Kathmandu, sightseeing Kathmandu Valley
Day 3 Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m) and trek to the Sherpa heartland at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Khumjung (3,790m)
Day 4/5 Return to Lukla, trek to Puiyan (2,800m)
Day 6/11 Trek to Panggoma (2,846m) and enter the Hinku Valley. Follow the valley up to the Mera Peak BC at Khare (5,300m)
Day 12/14 Acclimatisation, establish high camp (5,800m) and ascend Mera Peak (6,461m) Day 15/20 Return via TangNag (4,356m) and cross ZarwaLa (4,600m) to Lukla
Day 21 Fly Lukla to Kathmandu
Day 22/23 At leisure in Kathmandu

-Have to negotiate a few crevasses (but safe!) on the ascent
-Risk of altitude problems and exposure
-Crossing of the ZarwaLa may become challenging and treacherous in case of snow; Lukla face of the pass is steep and may require a rope-up descent
-Relentless 2 days steep descent from ZarwaLa to Lukla

Comments
-This is a camping expedition but we use the teahouse facilities wherever available ie, Lukla, with the usual services of our Sherpas. You just won't be sleeping in a tent
-It is important to have 2 spare days in Kathmandu as cushion for any flight delays or cancellation at the remote mountain airstrip of Lukla
-It is possible to trek up to Tengboche Monastery or go all the way to EBC, provided you have more time
