These adventures have been designed for the mature adventurer who prefers a slightly slower pace, further rest days and more creature comforts. The holidays offer maximum variety in a limited period, with plenty of not-too-strenuous activities. The trekking part involves up to four to five hours a day at a slow but steady pace on variable terrain at different altitude. The day walks are at a relaxed pace and each night we stay at a comfortable lodge or camp where lodging facilities do not exist.
Below is just a sample of many itineraries we have for mature travellers, the rest are not featured here
Himalayan Experience Kathmandu, a spectacular short trek and the wildlife of Chitwan
The tour covers all the highlights of Nepal at an easy pace. Starting from Kathmandu we have time to explore its narrow streets, architecture and hidden temples before we head to small villages in the north of the Kathmandu Valley for a three day trek. We continue to Pokhara, famous for its beauty, an old trading village of Bandipur and Chitwan with its abundant wildlife.
Itinerary
Day 1-2 Kathmandu (1,330m)
Arrive in Kathmandu where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. On Day 2, we cross the ages from medieval to modern on our exploration of the legendary city of Kathmandu. Hindu shrines, Buddhist stupas, Tibetan communities and living Goddesses make up our day as we wander the crowded maze of courtyards.
Day 3 Kathmandu
Morning walking tour of an old Newari fortress town of Kirtipur (1,435m) surrounded by rich farmland; walk to legend-filled Taudaha Lake; drive to Pharping Buddhist Monasteries (1,405m) and walk to the ancient Hindu temple at Daksinkali to witness an age-old custom of animal sacrifice.
Day 4-6 Kathmandu Valley
Our three day walk commences as we leave the road and head for Chisopani (2,300m). Following the valley rim we arrive at Nagarkot (2,175m) with its classic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Everest. Our valley walk finishes at Changu Narayan Temple (1,532m), Nepal's oldest surviving temple dating back to the 4th century, and a World Heritage Site. Take a short drive to visit the well preserved Bhaktapur Durbar Square, another World Heritage Site, and explore this fascinating medieval city before we head off to Kathmandu. 1 night at a TeaHouse
Day 7-8 Pokhara (820m)
Morning mountain flight to view Mt Everest and the eastern range of Himalayan peaks (weather permitting). Take another beautiful flight to Pokhara that offers stunning views of the central Himalaya. This beautiful town is situated beside the Phewa Lake, beneath the snow-capped Annapurna Ranges which rise majestically in the background. At leisure to go for a boat ride on the lake, hike into the hills, visit the International Mountain Museum or sample local food at one of many roadside cafes.
Day 9-10 Bandipur (1,030m)
Short drive to Bandipur. This charming hilltop village is a wonderful place to experience Newari village life and enjoy spectacular views of the Annapurna and Manaslu Ranges. Well off the main tourist track, it is unlikely that you will meet many other travellers here. Here, we explore the local countryside and visit Siddha Gupha, the Himalaya's largest cave.
Day 11-12 Chitwan (126m)
Drive down to Chitwan National Park, where we commence exploring the tropical jungle on foot, elephant back and by canoe as we search for rhinos, tigers, bears and wild elephants.
Day 13 Kathmandu
We return to Kathmandu by noon. The rest of the day is at leisure to do some final shopping or explore more of this splendid city.
Day 14 Trip concludes
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
